Buffalo, New York – Cold air is settling across western New York this morning, bringing rain and snow showers that could affect travel conditions through Monday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, scattered showers will continue Sunday with a chance for isolated thunder during the afternoon. As temperatures hover in the low to mid-40s, precipitation may mix with or change to snow at times, especially in higher terrain and during heavier bursts.

Roads including I-90, I-190, and Route 33 around Buffalo and Niagara Falls could see brief slick spots where temperatures dip closer to freezing, particularly late tonight. Overnight lows will fall into the 20s to near 30 degrees, allowing any remaining moisture to refreeze on untreated surfaces.

Conditions remain unsettled into Monday, with highs only reaching the mid-30s to low 40s and additional scattered snow showers possible across the region, including Rochester, Jamestown, and Batavia. While accumulation is expected to stay light, visibility could briefly drop in passing snow bands.

Drivers should prepare for changing road conditions, especially during early morning and nighttime hours. Use caution on bridges and overpasses where freezing occurs first.

A gradual warming trend begins Tuesday, with highs climbing into the upper 40s and low 50s. Additional updates are expected as conditions evolve through Monday night.
