New York, NY – Wet flakes swirl past streetlights this morning, and slushy pavement is already slowing traffic on the FDR Drive and I-95. Snow develops through midday, and a quick coating on colder surfaces could create slick bridges before early afternoon. Plan extra time if you’re heading out.

According to the National Weather Service, snow is likely through about 1 p.m. with highs near 38 degrees. North winds gust up to 11 mph, keeping wind chills in the upper 20s and low 30s. Minor daytime accumulation, generally under an inch, is expected in Central Park and across the five boroughs.

Road crews are monitoring elevated roadways where light bursts could briefly reduce visibility. As skies partially clear later today, melting may occur on treated roads. After sunset, temperatures fall toward the lower 20s. That sets the stage for isolated flash freezing on untreated surfaces. Watch sidewalks and overpasses tonight and early Monday.

Monday turns mostly sunny but stays brisk, with highs near 31 degrees. Clouds increase Monday night. By Tuesday, a wintry mix may develop before 10 a.m., changing to rain as temperatures climb into the low 40s. Rain continues Tuesday night into Wednesday, with highs in the upper 40s. Showers linger Thursday with readings pushing the mid-50s.

It’s now one week until clocks spring forward at 2 a.m. March 8, and daylight will steadily increase through the month. Longer days and a late-week warming trend hint at early spring vibes. Traveling today? Tell us what roads look like in your neighborhood.

Five Day Outlook for New York, NY:

Monday: Mostly sunny, high 31.
Tuesday: Wintry mix early, then rain, high 41.
Wednesday: Chance of rain, high 47.
Thursday: Chance of rain, high 56.
Friday: Chance of rain, high 49.
