Carson City, NV – Drivers traveling through Carson City should expect significant delays Tuesday evening as lane closures remain in effect following a crash earlier in the day at one of the city’s busiest highway intersections.
According to the Nevada State Police, the collision occurred Tuesday morning at the intersection of Interstate 580 and South Carson Street. Authorities said the crash resulted in non-life-threatening injuries, but recovery operations continue to impact traffic throughout the area.
As of 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, northbound traffic on I-580 has been reduced to one lane with intermittent closures. In addition, the eastbound U.S. 50 turn lanes to northbound South Carson Street are closed, while the westbound I-580 to westbound U.S. 50 connection has also been reduced to one lane.
Officials expect the lane reductions and closures to remain in effect through Tuesday night while crews continue recovery and cleanup efforts.
Motorists traveling through Carson City are encouraged to allow extra travel time, seek alternate routes if possible, and use caution around emergency personnel working at the scene.
Nevada State Police have not released additional information about the circumstances of the crash or the number of vehicles involved. The incident remains under investigation.
