Nevada – Frost is gripping the Reno area right now, with a sharp temperature drop overnight leaving icy patches on roads and a freeze threat that could impact crops and plumbing through the early morning hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, a Freeze Warning remains in effect until 8 a.m., with temperatures falling as low as 25°F in colder valleys and rural areas . Even urban spots are dipping into the upper 20s, allowing frost to form quickly on exposed surfaces.

Across Reno, Sparks, and along I-80 and U.S. 395, drivers should watch for slick spots on bridges, ramps, and shaded roadways. While widespread ice is not expected, isolated patches can still cause sudden braking issues. Plan extra time and reduce speed through mid-morning.

Residents should take action now. Sensitive plants can be damaged or killed in these temperatures, and exposed pipes are at risk. Cover vegetation and protect outdoor plumbing before conditions improve.

By midday, sunshine returns and temperatures rebound to near 59°F. The warming trend accelerates into Saturday, reaching around 70°F, then climbs further to near 73°F by Sunday afternoon with partly sunny skies.

Changes arrive early next week. By Monday night, a chance of showers develops, with snow levels dropping from around 8,000 feet to near 6,800 feet. That could bring light snow to higher elevations by Tuesday.

Five Day Outlook for Reno, NV:
