Nashville, TN – A 20-year-old Nashville man has been charged with attempted criminal homicide after Thursday night’s shooting that critically injured a 13-year-old girl. The incident took place on University Court in the Napier-Sudekum community.
Officers responded shortly after 7 p.m. when they received reports that a teenage girl had been shot in the lower back. According to authorities, responding Hermitage Precinct officers swiftly located the suspect, Steven V. Harvey, in an apartment on Charles E. Davis Boulevard.
Investigations revealed Harvey was involved in a fight, which escalated when he allegedly fired shots into a crowd. The 13-year-old girl was struck as an innocent bystander.
During an interview at police headquarters, detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division reported that Harvey admitted to firing the gun. He now faces additional charges for unlawful gun possession during a dangerous felony. A judicial commissioner set his bond at $125,000.
The girl remains hospitalized in critical condition. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
