Armada Township, MI — A 61-year-old man from Armada Township was electrocuted and killed at a DTE work site Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 12:43 p.m. on Powell Road.

According to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a truck fire at the work site. Live electrical wires had come down in the area, igniting small fires on the ground. The man was operating a vacuum truck when the incident occurred.

Authorities said the man was removing debris from a hole dug for a powerline pole. He was electrocuted by the live wires, which also set the truck and the individual on fire.

DTE crews worked quickly to shut off the power, allowing emergency personnel to safely access the area. First responders from multiple fire departments and sheriff’s deputies arrived soon after to contain the situation.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
