Naperville, IL – A suspicious vehicle investigation in Naperville on Sunday night led to the arrest of an 18-year-old Chicago man on multiple felony weapons charges.
According to the Naperville Police Department, officers responded around 9:40 p.m. to the 1600 block of Westminster Drive following a report of a vehicle parked on the wrong side of the street with its headlights flashing on and off.
Upon arrival, officers identified the driver as Mason J. Davis, 18, of Chicago. Police say they observed fresh cannabis in plain view inside the vehicle, prompting a search that uncovered a concealed firearm with no serial number, an extended magazine in Davis’s pocket, and an airsoft rifle resembling a real firearm.
Davis was charged with four felony counts of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, one felony count of possession of a firearm with no serial number, and one misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of cannabis. He was released from custody pending his next court appearance in accordance with state law.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the incident.
