Low clouds and patchy fog linger across parts of central Mississippi this morning, briefly softening visibility along I-55 and Highway 49 before the sun breaks through. The air already feels mild, and temperatures are climbing quickly toward an unseasonably warm afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, fog will thin out through midmorning, giving way to mostly sunny skies and a high near 80 degrees. South winds increase between 5 and 10 mph, with gusts approaching 20 mph at times. That steady breeze signals a warming trend that continues through midweek.

Wednesday turns even warmer, with highs near 82 under partly sunny skies. By Thursday, temperatures reach the low 80s again, pushing close to 83 degrees. Humidity edges higher late in the week, setting the stage for scattered showers and thunderstorms by Friday afternoon, when rain chances climb to 40%.

Saturday brings a better opportunity for rain and storms, especially into the afternoon hours, with highs around 84. Plan outdoor activities early in the day and stay weather-aware if you have evening plans. Wet roads and brief downpours could slow travel.

This early March warm spell reflects a broader pattern. The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures into next week across Mississippi. Spring warmth is building, and daylight is stretching longer each evening.

Remember, clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday morning, March 8. We lose an hour of sleep but gain brighter evenings.

Five Day Outlook for Jackson, Mississippi:
Today: Patchy fog, then mostly sunny, high near 80.
Wednesday: Partly sunny, high near 82.
Thursday: Partly sunny, high near 83.
Friday: 40% chance of afternoon storms, high near 84.
Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, high near 84.
