According to the National Weather Service, Minneapolis faces an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Friday, with scattered storms also possible before 2 p.m. Rainfall could range from a tenth to a quarter of an inch, though heavier localized downpours are possible. Winds will remain light, shifting north at 5 to 10 mph.

Storm activity may affect commutes on I-94, especially near downtown Minneapolis and heading into St. Paul. Residents should prepare for brief visibility drops, slick road surfaces, and minor ponding in low-lying areas. Those with Friday afternoon outdoor events or travel should monitor local alerts and consider alternate plans.

Friday night clears out, with clouds diminishing and lows dipping to 59°F. Saturday brings a steamy high of 89°F and another round of thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m., with a 60% chance of precipitation. Conditions stay muggy through Sunday, with more storms expected and a high of 87°F.
