Minneapolis, MN – A powerful winter storm dumped heavy snow across Minnesota, with some areas reporting over a foot of accumulation in the last 24 hours. The highest recorded snowfall was 13 inches near Dennison, while several locations in the Twin Cities metro area saw between 10 and 12 inches.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest snowfall was concentrated in southern and central Minnesota, including areas like Lakeville, Woodbury, and Elko New Market, which recorded between 11 and 12 inches. St. Paul and Minneapolis also experienced significant snowfall, leading to hazardous travel conditions.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has urged drivers to use caution, as icy roads and blowing snow have made for treacherous commutes. Plows have been deployed statewide, but motorists are advised to check 511MN for real-time road conditions before heading out.

Flight delays and cancellations have also been reported at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport due to the storm. Schools in affected areas have announced closures or delays, with officials prioritizing student safety.

Cold temperatures will persist in the coming days, with additional light snowfall possible. Residents are advised to dress warmly and stay informed on weather updates as cleanup efforts continue.
