Winona County, MN – A worker went missing in Pleasant Valley on Thursday while repairing a fence. Over 35 rescuers, including the Minnesota Air Rescue Team (MART), were dispatched to assist.
According to the Winona County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were alerted around 4:24 p.m. when the worker failed to return home. Rescue units from multiple agencies, including the Wilson Fire Department, Gundersen AIR, and Winona County SOAR Team, quickly mobilized to locate the individual.
At 5:20 p.m., responders found the victim in a remote area that was difficult to access. To ensure the worker’s safety, MART deployed a helicopter to extract the person using ropes.
The rescue was completed by 6:25 p.m., and the worker was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Officials reported the victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
This marks the second search-and-rescue mission in Winona County within 72 hours. The coordinated efforts of local agencies highlighted the importance of rapid response and teamwork in critical situations.
