Philadelphia, PA – A midweek break in active weather will give way to a renewed round of rain and snow across the Mid-Atlantic, with commuters likely to face wet and occasionally slick roads from Thursday morning through Friday night.

According to the National Weather Service Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center, dry conditions hold through today before light precipitation develops early Thursday and continues in waves into Friday evening. Most areas will see under a half inch of total precipitation, though colder inland locations could experience periods of light snow mixing in.

Across Pennsylvania, including Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Allentown, early Thursday travel may become hazardous on untreated roads. Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs will primarily see rain, but brief snow mixing is possible during overnight and early morning hours. In New Jersey and Delaware, rain will dominate, affecting major routes like I-95, I-295, and the Atlantic City Expressway.

Rivers are steadily receding after earlier rainfall, but smaller streams could rise 1 to 2 feet with this next system. Officials urge drivers to avoid water-covered roads and allow extra travel time during peak commutes.

Unsettled conditions continue through Friday night, with additional updates expected if rainfall totals increase.
