Marquette, MI – Bitterly cold temperatures and persistent lake-effect snow will dominate the weather pattern in Marquette this week. Residents should prepare for icy roads, reduced visibility, and wind chills dipping below zero by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), scattered snow showers will continue Tuesday with highs reaching only 22°F. Gusty north winds up to 25 mph will create blowing snow, further impacting visibility, particularly along M-28 and other local highways. Drivers are urged to use caution during their commutes and monitor road conditions.

By Wednesday, temperatures will plummet further, with daytime highs near 17°F and wind chills falling below -5°F. Overnight lows Tuesday and Wednesday will range from 7°F to 10°F. Snow showers may persist in the area, though accumulation is expected to remain light, under one inch per day.

Thursday offers a brief reprieve with mostly sunny skies and highs reaching 23°F. However, the cold weather returns Thursday night as lows near 16°F are forecast. The week ends with more cloud cover and moderate warming on Friday, with temperatures climbing to a high of 27°F.

Residents are advised to bundle up and limit outdoor exposure, as frostbite risks increase in these conditions. Keep vehicles stocked with emergency supplies if traveling during snow events, and stay informed by checking NWS updates and alerts throughout the week.
