Caribou, ME – Frigid temperatures and snow showers are expected to sweep across northern Maine starting tonight, creating challenging conditions for residents and travelers. Wind chills are forecast to dip below zero early Tuesday morning, while light snow will accumulate through the evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, a low-pressure system near the Canadian Maritimes will bring light snow from the Central Highlands to areas farther north late tonight into Tuesday. Bangor and the Downeast region may see scattered snow showers, though significant accumulation is not expected. Residents should prepare for bitter wind chills, with values reaching as low as -25°F in some areas.

Dry weather will dominate during the day on Monday, with highs struggling to reach 19°F. Conditions will turn cloudy by evening as snow showers develop. The rest of the week sees temperatures gradually moderating, with highs reaching the upper 20s by Thursday and the chance for additional light snow through midweek.

Drivers along I-95 and local roads should remain cautious as visibility could be reduced tonight, especially during snow showers. Prepare for slippery conditions and bundle up against the extreme cold.

Looking ahead, temperatures will trend warmer toward Friday, with partly sunny skies and highs near 31°F. However, residents are advised to monitor updates for potential weather developments over the weekend as another low-pressure system forms to the south.
