KANKAKEE, Ill. – A tragic two-car collision last night near the Library at E Court St & S Schuyler Ave has left an 8-year-old girl in serious condition and a man behind bars. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. when a 2019 GMC Sierra, driven by 41-year-old Stanley Turner of Kankakee, allegedly ran a stop light, crashing into a 2019 Ford SUV.
Kankakee Police swiftly responded to the scene, where they found the young girl unresponsive outside of the Ford SUV, sprawled on the roadway. The impact of the crash had forced a boy in the Ford to be extricated from the vehicle, though he fortunately sustained only minor injuries. At least two other children suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The injured girl was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is currently listed in serious condition. Authorities have not yet released her identity. Meanwhile, the driver of the Sierra, Stanley Turner, was taken into custody and is now facing charges. A startling revelation came to light during the investigation: Turner was operating the GMC Sierra on a revoked license.
