Maine Shooting: Son Charged with Attempted Murder After Mother Injured

Belgrade, ME – A woman suffered serious injuries in a Belgrade shooting Sunday morning, and police have arrested her son.

Maine State Police reported the incident occurred at a residence on 15 Point Road at 11:03 a.m. Authorities responded to a 911 call about a shooting. Troopers, Belgrade Rescue, and Delta Ambulance assisted. The victim, 58-year-old Christina Bell, sustained critical injuries. First responders flew her to Maine Medical Center in Portland before transferring her to a Boston hospital. Police expect her to survive.

Officers apprehended Samuel Bell, 26, without incident after locating him nearby on Guptill Road. He did not live at the residence and had fled in his vehicle. Authorities charged him with attempted murder and elevated aggravated assault.

Police transported Samuel Bell to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility. Officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
