Shreveport, Louisiana — Quiet and warmer conditions will hold through Monday before a sharp shift Tuesday night brings strong thunderstorms capable of damaging winds and travel disruptions across Shreveport, Bossier City, Texarkana, Longview and Natchitoches.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, storms will begin developing after 6 p.m. Tuesday, with the most intense activity expected between 8 p.m. and midnight across northwest Louisiana and northeast Texas.

This is part of a broader system pushing a late spring cold front into the region, increasing instability and moisture ahead of midweek severe weather.

Storms may produce wind gusts up to 60 mph, strong enough to knock down tree limbs and cause scattered power outages. Brief heavy rainfall could quickly create slick roads and ponding water, especially on low-lying stretches near downtown Shreveport and along I-20 where visibility may drop suddenly.

Gusty southwest winds ahead of the front will also impact high-profile vehicles Tuesday evening, particularly on open roadways between Shreveport and Marshall.

Residents should secure loose outdoor items before evening storms and avoid unnecessary travel during the peak window. Drivers should slow down on wet roads and avoid water-covered streets.

The highest risk for damaging storms will occur between 8 p.m. and midnight Tuesday, when travel impacts and power disruptions are most likely.
