Covington, LA – A 38-year-old pedestrian from Denham Springs died early Wednesday in a crash on U.S. Highway 190 in St. Tammany Parish. Louisiana State Police reported the incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. near Park Place Drive.
According to Troop L, Jonathan H. Janise walked into the eastbound lanes from the median. At that moment, a 2014 Peterbilt truck was traveling eastbound and struck Janise in the center lane. Janise suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. The truck driver, who was restrained, was uninjured. Authorities stated that impairment is not suspected, as the driver’s breath test showed 0.000% blood alcohol content.
The crash remains under investigation, and a toxicology report on Janise is pending.
