CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. – A car smashed into a Buffalo Wings and Rings restaurant in Crystal Lake Thursday, injuring four people, some of them seriously.
The accident occurred when the driver of a Nissan Altima was reportedly attempting to park in a parking lot on Carlemont Drive. The car veered off the sidewalk and smashed through the restaurant’s glass window, causing significant damage to the building.
One of the injured individuals, Michael Zaitz, and his wife were dining at the restaurant when the accident happened. According to friends, Michael bravely pushed his wife out of harm’s way but ended up being pinned under the car, suffering serious injuries. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help Zaitz and his family cover medical bills and other expenses while he recovers.
The Buffalo Wings and Rings restaurant expressed its concern and support for those involved in a statement posted on their Facebook page. The restaurant is temporarily closed due to the significant damage caused by the accident.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and the Crystal Lake Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward. The incident serves as a reminder to always exercise caution and stay alert while driving, particularly in crowded areas.
