Wheatfield, Indiana – Two individuals have been confirmed dead and one has been critically injured in a shooting incident that took place in a residence located approximately 5 miles southwest of Wheatfield, Indiana.
The deceased have been identified Monday as Michael Z. Bukur, aged 43, and Sarah L. Bukur, aged 36, both from Wheatfield, Indiana. The identity of the injured 17-year-old female is being withheld due to being a juvenile victim of the incident.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, responding deputies were notified of an on-going “rolling” domestic disturbance in the area Sunday around 1am. Upon arriving at the residence, gunshots were heard, and deputies immediately entered the residence to find the victims.
Although the investigation is ongoing, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office has stated that this is an isolated incident, and there is no further threat to the community.
The injured individuals were transported to area hospitals, but Michael Z. Bukur has since passed away.
The Sheriff’s Office has expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims and has urged the public to allow them to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
