Lithium Battery Fire Causes Major Delays on US95 in Nevada

Nye County, NV – A crash involving two semi-trucks has forced the closure of US95 near mile marker 13. The incident occurred between Mercury and SR160, halting traffic in both directions.

One of the trucks, carrying lithium batteries, caught fire following the crash. Emergency crews have since extinguished the blaze. Both drivers sustained minor injuries.

According to Nevada State Police, southbound traffic is being diverted to SR160, while northbound traffic is turned around at Indian Springs. A hazmat unit is en route to handle any potential contamination.

The road will remain closed until further notice as authorities work to clear the scene. Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol, and local authorities are assisting. The reopening time remains unknown.
