Lexington Park, MD – A 36-year-old woman was fatally shot Friday in St. Mary’s County, leading to the arrest of her ex-husband.
Maryland State Police identified the victim as Chaquanda Latise Odom, of California, Maryland. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene on Liberty Street in Lexington Park.
According to Maryland State Police, troopers responded to reports of gunfire at 11:10 a.m. Friday. They found Odom with multiple gunshot wounds. Shortly after, Jayson David Pressley, 38, of Lexington Park, turned himself in at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. Pressley faces first- and second-degree murder charges and is being held without bond.
Authorities believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation, with assistance from forensic teams and local agencies.
