Allentown, PA – A winter weather advisory is in effect for parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania from Saturday afternoon through early Sunday, with snow, sleet, and freezing rain expected to create hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the advisory begins at noon Saturday and extends through early Sunday, varying by location. Snow and sleet accumulations between 1 and 5 inches are expected, with the highest amounts in the Poconos and northwestern New Jersey. Ice accumulation could reach up to three-tenths of an inch in elevated areas, increasing the risk of power outages and tree damage.

Affected areas include:

New Jersey: Warren, Hunterdon, Somerset, Sussex, and Morris counties

Pennsylvania: Lehigh Valley, Northampton, Carbon, Monroe, Berks, Montgomery, and Upper Bucks counties

Travel could become treacherous, especially in higher elevations. Authorities urge drivers to slow down, use caution, and check road conditions by dialing 511.

The wintry mix will taper off late Saturday night into Sunday morning, but lingering ice could make early travel hazardous. Residents should prepare for potential power outages and slippery sidewalks.
