Boston, MA – A winter weather advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. Saturday through 7 p.m. Sunday across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island, with snow and ice accumulation expected to impact travel.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston, parts of Massachusetts, including Worcester, Springfield, and Lowell, could see between 4 to 6 inches of snow, with ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch. Northern Connecticut and northwest Rhode Island are expected to receive 2 to 4 inches of snow with a light ice glaze.

Forecasters warn that heavy, wet snow and freezing rain may bring down tree branches and cause isolated power outages. Strong winds on Monday could worsen power restoration efforts.

Drivers should prepare for slick road conditions and reduced visibility. Authorities recommend slowing down and allowing extra travel time.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects and have emergency supplies on hand, including flashlights and extra batteries.
