Merrillville, IN – Major lane and ramp closures are set to begin on U.S. 30 at the I-65 interchange starting Sunday, September 22. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will conduct concrete pavement restoration through mid-October.
INDOT says the work will take place in three phases. The first phase will run from Sunday at 8 p.m. to Friday at 5 a.m., concluding on September 27. During this phase, two eastbound lanes of U.S. 30 will be closed between Mississippi and Rhode Island streets. The ramp connecting northbound I-65 to U.S. 30 will also be closed.
Crews will work around the clock, reopening the road on weekends between phases. Drivers should expect changing traffic patterns and significant delays, especially during peak hours. The schedule may shift due to weather conditions, INDOT stated.
Residents and travelers should plan alternate routes to avoid congestion. Updated information will be available through the Indiana Department of Transportation’s website and social media channels as the project progresses.
