Schererville, IN – Two men face felony charges after a string of catalytic converter thefts targeting a U-Haul location in Schererville.
Police responded to 1861 Wicker Avenue on October 29 following reports of multiple vehicle burglaries. Investigators identified catalytic converters as the primary target. A red BMW 330i was linked to the crime, prompting collaboration with neighboring agencies. Munster Police located the vehicle, which helped Schererville officers identify the suspects.
According to the Schererville Police Department, Dontel J. Thompson and Xavier A. English were charged on November 7. Both face two counts of burglary (Level 5 felony) and two counts of theft (Level 6 felony).
Authorities credit the swift identification of the suspect vehicle with resolving the case efficiently. Schererville Police thanked Munster Police for their assistance and urged residents to report suspicious activity to prevent further thefts.
