Michigan Jogger Fatally Struck by Train at Frenchtown Township Crossing

Monroe, MI – A Monroe man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a train collision in Frenchtown Township, authorities said.

Robert K. Moore, 36, was jogging westbound on Mall Road when he crossed the CSX Rail Line despite active warning signals. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Moore approached the lowered crossing gate, turned around, and began jogging eastbound when he was struck by a southbound train.

The collision occurred at 1:18 p.m. near Telegraph Road and North Monroe Street. Emergency brakes were activated, bringing the train to a stop, but Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol is not suspected in the incident. Investigators from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office are working with CSX Railroad and other agencies to determine the circumstances of the crash.
