Monee, IL — Firefighters in Monee swiftly contained a late-night basement fire, preventing injuries and major structural damage.
Crews from the Monee Fire Protection District responded to a reported odor of smoke inside a residence on Monday at 10:14 p.m. Fire Engine 55 arrived within three minutes and located an active fire in the basement. The incident was immediately upgraded to a structure fire response to ensure additional support.
According to the Monee Fire Protection District, firefighters extinguished the blaze quickly, preventing flames from spreading beyond the basement. Mutual aid teams arrived but were released after the fire was under control. Smoke and heat damage remained contained to the basement area.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
