Lake County, IN – Motorists in Lake County should prepare for overnight lane closures on I-65, impacting travel between U.S. 30 and I-94 for approximately three weeks starting on or after Sunday, August 11. The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced these closures to accommodate slab jacking operations.
According to INDOT, crews will work nightly from Sunday through Thursday, between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. the following morning. These operations aim to maintain and improve the structural integrity of the roadway. During this period, traffic patterns will change, and drivers should remain vigilant for work crews and shifting traffic lanes.
The affected stretch includes major routes through Merrillville and Hobart, two key areas in Lake County. The overnight closures are expected to cause delays, particularly during the late evening and early morning hours. INDOT advises motorists to plan alternative routes or allow extra travel time to navigate the construction zones safely.
