DuPage County, IL – The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office is alerting the public to a recent telephone scam targeting local residents. Scammers are making calls, claiming individuals have missed jury duty and now have a warrant for their arrest. They demand immediate payment via Bitcoin, Venmo, and other digital methods.

According to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office, they will never call to inform anyone about missed jury duty or arrest warrants, nor do they accept payments over the phone through Bitcoin, Coinme, gift cards, or app services like PayPal, Cash App, Venmo, or Zelle. Residents are urged to be cautious and not to share any personal information or make payments if they receive such calls.

Authorities advise anyone receiving these scam calls to contact their local police department immediately. Residents in unincorporated DuPage County should call 630-407-2400 for assistance. The Sheriff’s Office emphasizes the importance of staying vigilant to protect against these fraudulent activities.
