Lake County, IL – A 19-year-old Wisconsin man remains in critical condition following an early-morning crash on Route 41 in Wadsworth. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the single-vehicle crash, which occurred around 4:15 a.m. on Sunday.
According to Lake County officials, the Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling northbound when the driver failed to navigate a curve near Kelly Road. The vehicle left the road, striking a light pole before crashing into a ditch. It went airborne, hit two trees, and landed on its side.
Both the driver and a passenger, also 19, were trapped inside the vehicle. Fire officials extricated them, and both were taken to a local hospital. While the driver sustained minor injuries, the passenger remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash. Their Technical Crash Investigations Team is leading the inquiry.
