Illinois State Police Arrest Chicago Man in Expressway Road Rage Shooting

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) arrested Daniel Morales, 40, of Chicago for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm following a road rage incident on Interstate 90.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:07 a.m. on February 9, 2024, near Irving Park Road. Morales and the victim were involved in an altercation while driving northbound. During the confrontation, Morales allegedly fired a gun, striking the victim’s vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to ISP, an extensive investigation led to Morales’ arrest. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and filed the charge, a Class 1 Felony, against Morales. Authorities have not released additional details.

The charge against Morales is not evidence of guilt. He remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

Expressway shootings have become a growing concern in the Chicagoland area. ISP continues efforts to enhance safety through increased patrols and investigations.
