Byron Township, MI – A 27-year-old Grand Rapids man was arrested late last night in connection with a stolen vehicle near 100th Street and US-131.

When Kent County deputies arrived around 11:00 p.m., the vehicle was empty. However, a witness told officers that the driver had walked into a wooded area. Deputies then deployed a drone equipped with infrared technology to track the suspect. The drone located the man inside another vehicle nearby.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Kent County Correctional Facility. According to the Kent County Sheriff’s Office, the case will be reviewed by the Kent County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities credited the arrest to the keen observation of a local witness and advanced drone technology, both of which helped officers locate the man quickly. The sheriff’s office expressed its appreciation to the community for helping keep the area safe.
