Rockville, IN – A Parke Heritage Middle School student has been expelled for one year after allegedly making a comment about having a firearm in his backpack on the bus. The incident occurred Tuesday morning as the student was on his way to school.
According to the Parke County Sheriff’s Office, school officials conducted a thorough search of the student’s locker and belongings, finding no firearm or related materials. At the time of the investigation, the student was on a field trip to Raccoon Lake. Deputies met the student at the location, and no weapons were found on him or the bus.
Deputies also searched the student’s home, where no firearms were discovered. Despite no weapon being located, the school took immediate disciplinary action, expelling the student for one year. The Parke County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate, and charges may be forwarded to the Parke County Prosecutor’s Office.
