Aurora Township, IL – A 31-year-old Aurora man was injured during an armed robbery Monday evening in Aurora Township that involved gunfire and multiple suspects fleeing the scene.

According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 6:36 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of Konen Avenue. Authorities responded to a report of an armed robbery involving three individuals who allegedly approached a red Mitsubishi Outlander, demanded money and a cell phone, and fired a weapon during the confrontation.

The victim, identified as Mickey Stewart of the 500 block of Gladstone Avenue in Aurora, sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg. He was transported to Rush Copley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and later released, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies say all items were taken from the victim before the suspects fled on foot, heading northbound from the scene. K-9 units and a drone were deployed to assist in tracking evidence and locating the suspects involved in the robbery.

Two individuals who remained at the scene were reportedly detained for further questioning. One was released without charges, while the other is still being held pending investigation. No arrests of the alleged assailants were announced as of Tuesday morning.

The Aurora Police Department and Aurora Fire Department assisted at the scene, alongside the Kane County Sheriff’s Office Investigations and Evidence Divisions.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information to contact the Kane County Investigations Division at 630-444-1103.
