Davenport, IA – A brief lockdown at North High School disrupted the school day Wednesday after an armed individual was apprehended on school grounds.
According to the Davenport Police Department, officers responded around 1:42 p.m. to a report of a person with a gun near 55th Street and Division Street. The individual, later identified as 18-year-old Tramajhae Lewis of Davenport, was allegedly seen by a school resource officer walking through the school’s parking lot. A brief foot chase ensued before Lewis was apprehended on the property. A firearm was recovered shortly afterward.
Police confirmed North High School was placed on lockdown for approximately ten minutes during the incident. Authorities said the individual did not enter the building and is not enrolled as a student at the school. No injuries were reported, and there is no ongoing threat to students or the surrounding community.
Lewis was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds and interference with a weapon.
The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released further details about the potential motive or whether the individual had any connection to the school or nearby individuals.
