Iowa Men Face Murder Charges After 2015 Assault Victim Dies in 2024

Davenport, IA – Three men have been charged with second-degree murder in connection to a 2015 assault that left Joshua Sutton Sr. in a vegetative state. Sutton died in April 2024 from injuries related to the incident.

The Davenport Police Department responded to the assault on October 15, 2015, at the Chorus Line Strip Club, located at 4128 N. Brady St. Sutton was found unconscious and later transported to University of Iowa Hospitals for critical head injuries.

According to police, Kamden Shelton, Juan Shelton, and Trenton Shelton were initially charged with willful injury in 2015. However, following Sutton’s death on April 7, autopsy results ruled the manner of death a homicide.

Kamden A. Shelton Sr. was arrested on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, on a murder charge. Warrants for Juan and Trenton Shelton have also been issued.

Authorities state the investigation remains ongoing.
