Elmhurst, IL — A judge has denied pre-trial release for two Chicago men charged with burglarizing an Elmhurst liquor store and fleeing police in a high-speed chase. Michael Harris, 19, and Antwan Ford, 22, face multiple felony charges, including burglary and aggravated fleeing.
According to DuPage County prosecutors, the men allegedly broke into Corner Cottage Liquors early Thursday. Police spotted the suspects in a stolen Alfa Romeo and pursued them. During the chase, Harris allegedly rammed a police car and sped into oncoming traffic, reaching 115 mph before abandoning the vehicle.
With the help of Oak Brook and Oak Park police, the suspects were apprehended after fleeing on foot. Police found a stolen gun near the scene. Both men are scheduled to appear in court on November 4 for arraignment.
