Davenport, IA – The Quad Cities region is heading into a significant warming trend this week, with temperatures expected to climb from the low 70s Wednesday into the upper 80s and near 90 degrees by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, sunny and breezy conditions will dominate Wednesday across eastern Iowa and western Illinois. Davenport is expected to reach a high near 71 degrees with northwest wind gusts up to 30 mph.

Clear skies continue Wednesday night before warmer air arrives Thursday. High temperatures are forecast to climb into the mid-70s under sunny skies, though showers become more likely late Thursday night as the next weather system approaches the Midwest.

Forecasters say Friday will turn much warmer with highs reaching the mid-80s under mostly sunny skies. Thunderstorm chances increase Friday night and continue through Saturday and Sunday as humid air spreads into the region.

Saturday could be the warmest day of the stretch with highs near 90 degrees before additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms develop across the Quad Cities area through the remainder of the weekend and into early next week.
