Portage, IN – An Indiana man wanted in Colorado was tased and arrested in Indianapolis after allegedly soliciting a 12-year-old Porter County girl on Snapchat. Daniel Roberts, 31, was apprehended after attempting to flee from officers outside his home.
Portage detectives launched an investigation after the girl revealed inappropriate conversations with Roberts via Snapchat. The victim’s parents contacted authorities after the child disclosed the situation to a school counselor.
According to the Portage Police Department, detectives executed an arrest and search warrant at Roberts’ Indianapolis home on September 3. When officers arrived, Roberts fled on foot but was tased and taken into custody by officers from the Fishers Police Department and Indiana Cybercrimes Against Children Task Force.
Police seized electronic devices from the residence, which are believed to contain further evidence of child exploitation. Roberts is being held at Porter County Jail on a $70,000 bond. He is also wanted in Colorado for charges related to previous child exploitation offenses.
Roberts faces multiple charges, including child solicitation, possession of child pornography, and vicarious sexual gratification.
