Manhunt Underway After North Riverside Mall Suspect Hits Officers, Pedestrian in Berwyn

Berwyn, IL – A stolen vehicle hit a 55-year-old pedestrian during a police pursuit near Harlem Avenue on Wednesday. The victim, now hospitalized, remains in critical condition.

According to the Berwyn Police Department, the incident began when North Riverside Police attempted a traffic stop near the North Riverside Park Mall around 6:00 p.m. The driver of the vehicle did not comply and fled northbound on Harlem Avenue. After hitting the pedestrian, the driver continued, crashing into two police officers and a civilian on Grove Avenue.

The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Police set up a perimeter, but the search has been unsuccessful. The injured officers and civilian sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated.
