Indianapolis, IN – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detectives have announced an arrest in a double homicide investigation that remained unsolved for more than two years, marking a significant development in a 2023 case that claimed two lives.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD), officers responded on May 6, 2023, to the 2100 block of Ruckle Street after receiving reports of a person shot. Responding officers found 27-year-old Darian Wiley and 24-year-old Olivia Brown suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives launched an extensive investigation that included witness interviews and forensic analysis. After two years, the case was reassigned to the department’s Unsolved Homicide Unit, where investigators revisited evidence and developed new leads.
Police said detectives ultimately identified a 24-year-old male suspect, who was already incarcerated at the Branchville Correctional Facility on unrelated charges. In July 2026, investigators presented their findings to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, which filed formal charges.
According to IMPD, the suspect has been charged with two counts of murder, three counts of aggravated battery, robbery, and criminal recklessness.
Investigators said the case demonstrates the department’s continued commitment to pursuing justice, even in long-term investigations. Officials credited renewed forensic review and persistent investigative work with helping move the case forward for the victims’ families.
Authorities emphasized that the charges are allegations. The suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
