Indianapolis, IN – A late-night fire consumed a warehouse at 2107 Adams Street, destroying two businesses and taking the lives of one dog and six puppies.

The building housed El Palomar Auto Body Repair and Granite Customs. The fire reportedly began in the auto body shop due to an oil heater containing improperly mixed gasoline. Three employees inside the building evacuated safely.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD), the fire broke out at 10:36 p.m. Monday. Firefighters used a defensive strategy to bring the blaze under control within 76 minutes. Crews continued to extinguish hot spots for another two hours. Fortunately, no human injuries were reported.

Images released by IFD show flames engulfing the warehouse as crews worked in snowy conditions to prevent further spread.

Both businesses suffered total losses, and the fire highlights the importance of proper handling of hazardous materials. IFD has not disclosed further details as investigations continue.
