Clark County, IN – A Jeffersonville man was arrested Thursday after reportedly fleeing from a state trooper during an early-morning pursuit.

At 3 a.m., Sergeant Tracy Spencer spotted a motorcyclist speeding on 8th Street in Jeffersonville and observed the vehicle allegedly run a stop sign at Perrin Lane and East Middle Road. Sergeant Spencer activated his lights and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver accelerated to over 100mph.

According to the Indiana State Police, the pursuit continued on Middle Road, where the motorcyclist ran several stop signs and a red light at Middle Road and Allison Lane. The driver reportedly reached speeds of 110mph in a 45mph zone. As the suspect neared New Middle Road, he braked suddenly, forcing Spencer into the westbound lane. The motorcyclist crossed lanes and struck the side of Spencer’s patrol car.

The vehicles came to a stop, and the driver, 23-year-old Hunter Reid Worthington of Jeffersonville, was arrested without incident. No injuries were reported during the pursuit.

Worthington was taken to the Clark County Jail and charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, a Level 6 felony, and reckless driving, a Class C misdemeanor.
