Kendall County, IL – The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents to a new wave of telephone scams. Callers are posing as law enforcement, claiming to be “Sergeant Baker” with the sheriff’s department. These scammers are demanding payments through non-traditional methods, including Bitcoin and gift cards.

According to a statement from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, these calls are fraudulent. The sheriff’s office never asks for money over the phone or uses unconventional payment methods. Anyone who receives such a call should consider it a scam and avoid providing any personal or financial information.

If you receive a call claiming you have an arrest warrant or that a loved one is in jail, the sheriff’s office urges you to verify the call’s authenticity by contacting their office directly at (630) 553-5856.

Residents are encouraged to report fraudulent calls to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) through their website at reportfraud.ftc.gov. The sheriff’s office continues to monitor the situation and advises everyone to remain vigilant.
