The Scott County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports of callers posing as representatives from Norton Healthcare and Scott Memorial Hospital. The scammers ask residents for private medical information, leading officials to issue a countywide alert.
According to Sheriff Jerry Goodin, these calls are part of a growing trend in which criminals seek personal information. “Folks, please be careful when speaking with anyone about your private business over the phone and do not fall for these scams,” Goodin said in a statement. He also urged residents to err on the side of caution and hang up immediately.
