Scott County, IN – Residents are being warned of an ongoing phone scam where criminals impersonate local healthcare providers. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports of callers posing as representatives from Norton Healthcare and Scott Memorial Hospital. The scammers ask residents for private medical information, leading officials to issue a countywide alert.

According to Sheriff Jerry Goodin, these calls are part of a growing trend in which criminals seek personal information. “Folks, please be careful when speaking with anyone about your private business over the phone and do not fall for these scams,” Goodin said in a statement. He also urged residents to err on the side of caution and hang up immediately.

The Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information to contact their office at 812-752-5550. Residents can remain anonymous while helping the authorities crack down on these scams. Sheriff Goodin emphasized that the community must work together to prevent fraud and ensure public safety.
