Mundelein, IL – A Lincolnshire man faces charges after allegedly attempting to solicit a seven-year-old relative at a Labor Day party. Benedicto M. Aviles, 60, was arrested on September 10, 2024, following a week-long investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, Aviles, attending a party in unincorporated Mundelein on September 2, offered to take the child swimming. Instead, he allegedly showed her pornographic videos and attempted to solicit sexual acts. The child’s mother called for her daughter before the situation escalated further.
Following the girl’s disclosure, sheriff’s detectives launched an investigation with assistance from the Lake County Children’s Advocacy Center. Authorities located Aviles after several failed attempts, leading to his arrest.
The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged Aviles with indecent solicitation of a child and attempted predatory sexual assault.
Aviles remains in custody and will appear before a detention hearing, scheduled for September 12.
