Kenosha, WI — A man was rescued from Lake Michigan early Wednesday morning after a distress call about a submerged vessel near the Wisconsin-Illinois border. The call came around 6:50 a.m., as rescue teams prepared for a recovery operation for a missing diver.
Authorities reported that the vessel, located three miles out on Lake Michigan, had an individual armed with a firearm, threatening self-harm. A private vessel found the man in the water and stayed until law enforcement arrived. The man was rescued without incident.
According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, multiple agencies, including Winthrop Harbor Fire, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Lake County Sheriff’s deputies, assisted in the rescue. Lake County’s Marine Unit played a critical role, launching the patrol boat that successfully located the man.
