Fort Wayne, IN – A marginal risk for isolated severe storms has been issued for this afternoon across northeast Indiana, south-central Michigan, and northwest Ohio.

The National Weather Service Northern Indiana (NWS) reports that the primary threats include damaging wind gusts, large hail, and locally heavy rainfall. According to the NWS, the risk for severe weather spans from 2 to 8 p.m. EDT. Thunderstorms are likely, with isolated strong to severe storms possible, primarily impacting areas west of Interstate 69 in the morning before shifting east in the afternoon. Residents are advised to stay weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue throughout the day with a high probability (60-80%) of precipitation. Temperatures will range between 76 to 85 degrees. Cooler and breezier conditions are anticipated on Thursday, with highs between 72 and 78 degrees. Friday will bring cooler temperatures in the mid-60s to mid-70s. The weekend forecast predicts mostly dry conditions with a slight chance (20%) of showers in the afternoons and highs ranging from 70 to 78 degrees.

The NWS emphasizes the importance of moving indoors if thunder is heard and exercising caution while driving in heavy rain. The storm system could lead to sudden weather changes, and residents are encouraged to monitor local updates for further information.
