Fort Wayne, IN – A dense fog advisory is in effect for portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and northwest Ohio until 7 a.m. EST Thursday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Low visibility may create hazardous driving conditions throughout the region.

According to the NWS, visibility is expected to drop below a quarter-mile in affected areas, including Steuben, De Kalb, Allen, Wells, Adams, Blackford, and Jay counties in Indiana; Branch and Hillsdale counties in Michigan; and Williams, Fulton, Defiance, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, and Allen counties in Ohio.

The Cleveland NWS office has also issued a dense fog advisory for Crawford, Erie, Huron, Hancock, Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, Wood, and Wyandot counties in Ohio. Motorists should expect significantly reduced visibility overnight, increasing travel risks.

Authorities advise drivers to slow down, use headlights, and allow extra distance between vehicles to prevent accidents. Foggy conditions are expected to lift after sunrise as temperatures gradually rise.

Residents should stay updated with the latest weather alerts and plan extra travel time for their morning commutes. For real-time traffic updates, check local transportation websites or the NWS.

This advisory follows recent periods of fluctuating temperatures and precipitation, which contribute to fog formation. Officials recommend caution on roadways until conditions improve.
